So it comes down to this: since you have been raised with the Anointed One, the Liberating King, set your mind on heaven above. The Anointed is there, seated at God’s right hand. Do you feel liberated? Do you feel set free? Jesus Christ is the Liberating King, and since He has liberated us then we should feel free. Right? I happen to know that not all Christians do. I don't always feel free. There are days when no matter how much my faith has grown, I still feel locked into my old temptations and my old pains and simply my old self. I have to wonder why it is that I can’t trust Him fully and completely, the Anointed One, the Liberating King.
Of course part of it is bad habits, but there is still a part of me that resists letting go of control. Even if that control leads me down bad and stupid pathways, it’s still me in control and I fool myself into believing that there is freedom in control. The only times in my life where I have tasted a real sense of freedom has been when I’ve let go and found myself in the deep spiritual moment in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Holding onto that feeling, holding on to that true experience is what we are all seeking. The Bible tells us over and over and over again how to do it, set our eyes upon Jesus. Musicians have been singing about this for centuries, poets have expressed the beauty of the relationship with the Almighty, nature tells us every moment of every day how great is our God. Right now, in this moment stop whatever it is you’re doing and set your eyes upon Jesus. Shut off your phone, mute your TV, do whatever it is you have to do to take the time to experience the presence of the Holy Spirit and let your heart worship the Almighty God. He wants to liberate us, we just have to let Him.
